Why do people choose red marble?
Most of the red marble we supply and install in Sydney ends up in one of three places: a fireplace surround, a feature wall, or a bathroom vanity benchtop. It is the stone people choose when they want a single surface to define a room, and the brief almost always comes with something very specific already in mind.
Unlike the neutral tones that make up most of our collection, red marble does not recede. A red marble slab on a fireplace surround, a bookmatched pair of Rosso Lepanto across a full wall height, a red marble floor running through an entrance hall: each becomes the thing the room is organised around. That is exactly why it matters where you source it and who fabricates and installs it.
Red marble varies more between individual slabs than almost any other stone we stock. Two slabs of the same variety can differ noticeably in colour depth and veining once they are standing upright in natural light, and a photograph cannot tell you which version you are looking at. That is why we always recommend choosing your slab in person at the Marrickville showroom before committing to anything. We have been helping Sydney homeowners and architects select natural stone this way for more than 35 years.
What is red marble best used for?
Red marble is a statement material, and the applications that suit it are the ones where a statement is the point. Here is where we see it work most powerfully.
Fireplace surrounds
One of red marble’s signature applications. The warmth of the stone deepens under firelight, and Rosso Lepanto in particular changes character in the evening – the merlot and mahogany tones come forward and the porcelain veining picks up the light in a way that photographs cannot show you. If you have a fireplace in your plans, come in and stand next to a full slab before you decide.
Feature walls
A bookmatched pair of red marble slabs running full wall height is an installation that redefines a room. We cut and install bookmatched panels in-house at our Marrickville workshop on 5-axis CNC and waterjet machinery, so you are not trying to co-ordinate a separate supplier and fabricator and hoping the join comes out right.
Bathroom vanities
A red marble vanity in an otherwise neutral bathroom reads as a deliberate design decision rather than an upgrade. Calacatta Burgundy and Arabescato Rosso suit this application particularly well, because the colour runs through the veining rather than the ground, giving the surface drama without overwhelming a smaller space.
Flooring and staircases
Entrance halls, grand staircases, open-plan living areas. Red marble underfoot has been the material of palaces, parliament buildings and five-star hotel lobbies for centuries. In large-format sections, the colour and veining read from above in a way that a photograph simply cannot replicate.
Which red marble should I choose?
Each of the five varieties has a distinct character. Here is what to know before you come in.
Rosso Lepanto
The showstopper. A blend of deep reds from merlot to mahogany, with a shimmering web of porcelain veining that lifts the surface and creates extraordinary movement. It reads best at scale: fireplace surrounds, full wall heights, large-format flooring. The colour depth varies noticeably from slab to slab, which is why we strongly recommend choosing this stone in person.
Rosso Damascus
Richer and more uniform than Rosso Lepanto. Where Lepanto’s colour is layered and complex, Damascus gives you a deeper, more saturated ground. If intensity of colour is the main brief, this is the stone to look at first.
Calacatta Burgundy
The most refined of the five, and the one that surprises people who thought they were not interested in red marble. A brighter Calacatta white ground with burgundy and rose tones moving through the veining rather than the background stone. Dramatic at a distance, sophisticated up close. Well suited to bathroom vanities and contemporary residential settings.
Arabescato Rosso
Arabescato’s characteristic intricate, web-like veining across a warm red and white ground. Visually complex without feeling heavy. Pairs well with white joinery and works equally well on walls and on floors.
Cipollino Ondulato
The most texturally distinctive stone in the collection. Undulating, wave-like banding in warm earthy reds. There is genuinely nothing else in the natural stone palette quite like it. A stone for clients who want something they will not see in anyone else’s home.
Does Euro Marble fabricate and install red marble, or just supply the slab?
We do the whole job. From the slab you choose in our showroom to the sealed, finished surface in your home, the same team handles every step: templating, cutting, edge profiling, installation and sealing. Nothing gets handed to a separate tradesperson mid-project. One team, one point of contact, from the first visit to the day we sign off.
Red marble’s density requires care on the machines, and that is where experience with this stone category matters. We cut on 5-axis CNC and waterjet machinery at our Marrickville workshop, which supports the complex work: curved fireplace profiles, bookmatched wall panels, precision-jointed flooring sections. Call us before you finalise the brief. We can help with slab selection, bookmatching options, fabrication tolerances and project timelines, and we can hold slabs while your design is still in progress. The earlier we are involved, the better the result – we assist with design and engineering drawings, identify early where a chosen profile or stone is likely to cause problems on site, and our masons will already understand the design from the first drawing.

Can I see the red marble slabs in person before committing?
You can, and for red marble we would strongly encourage it. This is a stone category that varies more between individual slabs than almost anything else we stock. The colour depth, the intensity of the veining, the warmth or coolness of the ground – these shift significantly from piece to piece, and a photograph does not tell you which version you are looking at.
In our showroom the slabs stand full-size in natural light. You stand next to the actual piece, choose the one you want, and we reserve it in your name. There is no commitment required for a showroom visit.

How much does red marble cost in Sydney?
The honest answer is that it varies by variety more than most stone categories, and any supplier who quotes you a flat rate before seeing your project is guessing. Rosso Lepanto and Rosso Damascus sit at the premium end of the natural stone range. Calacatta Burgundy is more accessible but still in the premium category. All five varieties are hand-sourced and priced according to the slab, not a catalogue.
We do not publish a price list, for the same reason we do not send out standardised quotes. A red marble project turns on the stone you choose, the slab thickness, the edge profile, the application and how complex the install is. The figure we give you covers the lot: supply, templating, fabrication, sealing and installation. The number we quote is the number you pay, built around your actual job, not an average of everyone else’s.
