One of the most sought after marbles in the world that exudes opulence and elegance, the exclusive Calacatta Borghini has a distinctive look that boasts thick dark grey veins with occasional taupe and gold undertones. Calacatta Borghini is quarried from the opulant Apuan Mountains in Italy however is very limited making it a highly sought after and rare marble.

Calacatta Borghini is an exclusive material of Euro Marble that may be used in many types of different projects for interiors as floorings, staircases, various facings, decorations and small domestic objects, as well as countertops for bathrooms and kitchens.

Stonemasons named the stone Calacatta in honour of the city Calcutta in India and is one of three major stone types quarried in the Carrara region of Italy. One must understand that the name covers many different varieties of stones with a white – milky white background with dramatic grey to taupe coloured veining. As such, there are many different types of Calacatta material and Euro Marble has compiled an extensive stock inventory of at least 6 different types some of which are:

• Calacatta Extra

  – A white marble that is predominantly used to clad kitchen island benchtops with heavy veined grey patterns that dress the entire slab.

• Calacatta Gold

  – A more exclusive stone with deep grey veining and the occasional taupe highlights. The stone is used to create statements within architecturally designed homes often making statement kitchen island benchtops, bathroom vanities and staircases.

• Calacatta Oro

  – A popular choice for clients wanting a Tuscan inspired residential or commercial design. The veining of the stone ranges from gold to grey and is a dramatic stone that lends itself well to book match or quarter match floor and wall slabs.
